Zoom It App Reviews

Extremely Useful !

Sometimes Im reading an online article and I cant see much detail, This app make it much easier, even though OS X already has a built in feature to zoom, I find Zoom It much simpler and sleeker, because it lets you magnify areas without loosing the rest of your screen

great, but missing one huge feature

I love the app and works great for our media center (a Mac Mini hooked up to an HDTV). Having this app makes it much easier to see (and select) songs or files from across the room without having to be right up next to the TV. One feature that Id like to see added, however, is for the loupe to "disappear" when the cursor does as when the cursor hides from inactivity/no mouse movement (auto-hide). And then the loupe returning to view when the mouse/cursor is moved. Add that and youll make me one ecstatic customer.

Works with Dashboard

I just purchased this app and I already love it. I know that OSX comes with a pinch to zoom feature, but that feature does NOT work on Dashboard. Some of my apps on dashboard return a very small font that I just cant read. I have also had a couple of applications that wont do zoom well that had me actually getting a real magnifing glass to try and read the screen. This application will resolve all of these issues. I really like that you can hover over the area you want magnified while keeping the rest of the screen in its normal aspect ratio. This is perfect for all of us over 50 that have issues with up-close reading (and I hate wearing glasses since I am already wearing contacts) as our eyes just cant seem to transition from close to far away viewing as well as we used to. I am looking forward to using this app and will recommend it to my wife and friends. One of the best apps I have purchased so far. Works just as advertised.

Very good concept and clean execution. Needs: bigger and freezable

I am using a 27inch iMac but my eyes are having trouble focusing at night. My primary issue is Quicken Essentials which cant change the font size it uses. Zoom-it was nicely done and well-thought out. I could use a bigger window than its maximum and it would be nice if it had a "freeze here" feature. So I could place it over the Quicken window and leave it there. I guess if you command-tab to another app it would have to disengage so the screen flow would look ok. Zoom-It is a solid performer and better than the other apps and programs I tried.

wow

i love this app, and the shortcuts r awesome i recommend this for all of u i work a lot on the way on my leptop i will use it everyday thanks for your good work wish to see more apps from u !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Magnify Microscopic Text

I wasnt expecting much for ninety nine cents, but this . . . is one awesome little app. You can change the size of the loupe to as big as you like. You can change the shape from a circle to a rectangle. You can increase the magnification until the pixels make the letters unreadable (Should you want to. I dont know why you would, but you can.) Now I can finally read that microscopic text that developers are so fond of. Im giving this app 5 stars even though all the shortcuts are either icon-based at the top of the screen or keyboard based. It sure would be handy (and faster) to have those shortcut buttons on the frame of the loupe instead of having to search around for them. That being said, I love this app. Thanks Appatit Inc. for work well done.

Perhaps my favorite app

Zoom It is fantastic! Sure, its a one-trick pony, but what a trick! And it is far more usable than Apples built-in accessibility zoom feature. I love my Macbook Pros high resolution display, but all those tightly packed pixels mean that text can get pretty small sometimes. This is never a problem with Zoom It though. Also, since Zoom It provides a fully functional and resizable loupe centered around your mouse pointer, not only can you see whats inside the magnified area, but you can also work in there too (especially with the rectangular loupe)--typing, highlighting text to edit, gesture-scrolling, clicking on widgets, etc. Zoom It also really shines on a Mac Mini (or any model) thats being used to drive a home media center. Its often hard to read a web page or the EyeTV program guide on the HDTV from the couch. But now I just Zoom It!

Very good but it can be improved

Zoom It is very handy. I recommend to all my friends. However, if I compare the Zoom It with the magnifier in the open source pdf reader Skim, Skims magnifier provides a clearer, sharper image. The developer might want to look at the source code for Skim to see if Zoom Its images can be improved.

Zoom It

Fantastic utility. Worth 10X the going price. Easy to invoke. Easy to to use. Nice to have it always available at the touch of a button (actually a combo of 2). The built-in Control zoom function available in Lion and Snow Leopard (prob. Leopard as well) is probably all one needs, which zooms into the whole screen incrementally (as greatly as needed, by mouse or trackpad activation). But "Zoom It" is a bit easier to use to magnify just a select, focused area without losing sight of the entire screen. The entire screen remains visible while only the area under the loupe gets magnified. Cool tool!

MAGnificent!!!

I have eye problems. I always used OS Xs universal access features but would have to zoom the intire screen to see things. Long story short,... now I just sit back comfortably and when I need to zoom something I just toggle "option Z" keys and BAMB! I can click, type, etc,. right in the magnifier! And with my eyes? Clarity is the same as using OS Xs zoom feature. All for 0.99¢ ??? Please! If your eyes struggle, get it!

Great App! One suggestion ...

Could you add the option to move and place the loupe anywhere on screen and not have it follow the mouse? Otherwise, a really, really fine app … one that I will use every time I sit at the computer. Option Z. Sweet.

park it?

I really wish there were an option "to park" the magnifier and not always follow the mouse? I want to use this with itunes while teaching and showung videos to my class. And I want my students, who are learning English as a second language, to be bale to see where where exactly in the movie we are for any given fram so they can write down the time when they have a question. Also it is not clear to me how to change the shape from a circle to a rectangle?

Fantastic

My eyesight isnt what it used to be, so .... I installed Zoom-it on my Mac Book Pro laptop yesterday. I have been frustrated with the inability in iTunes store to zoom the screen to read the text better. This app is just what I needed. Works get, enough features for me (I really like the rectangular lens). Thank you Appatit for this tool.

Sherlock Holmes for the Computer

For 99¢, I agree, this is an absolute no-brainer to buy. As a graphic/web designer, this is a handy tool for aging eyes to see smaller screen details up-close. I think this would come in handy for most computer users. A big hooray for an inexpensive program that really is useful.

The one to Get!

This was just what I was looking for! The app is has great options for customization and I would recommend for any Mac user! Should have got this a long time ago! Buy it!!!

Everything but...

This is an exception app and certainly will be in my regular design rotation - it would be essential to my workflow if it could lock to a point on the screen and stop following the mouse. often when making 1 pixel modifications in web design i would would like the view to fix while i switch back to coding to i can see changes in real time… one feature short from being essential to any web designer.

Great app, needs one more thing

Great app. It would be helpful to have an option to allow the loupe to be disengaged from the mouse pointer.

What a great app!

As a trainer and presenter, Ive long used the built-in screen magnifying feature in OS X. But this is much more elegant, and its customizable, too. Love it!

Parking would be a great asset

I concur with other writers, this app does its job and does it well (and the price shouldnt drive anyone away). And I also agree that the one thing that would significantly add to its abilities would be if we could park the loupe at a designated location. The way Id love to do that is that there are times where I need to see some things that Im doing in Photoshop when I need to have the cursor at a different location. I dont want to waste the time explaining PS here (wrong venue), but suffice it to say this would be a big benefit.

Nice!

Wow, these guys put a lot of effort into this. And for $0.99? Its costing you more just reading this! I bought this yesterday, and I made a point to come back today and give props. Good Work! They even made a tutorial video; talk about attention to detail! Its developers like this which make the little things fun. :)
